NAFSA Expo and Conference 2019 (Association of International Educators), will take place under the theme "Global Leadership, Learning, and Change”, from the 26th to the 31st of May 2019, in Washington D.C, United States, representing one of the largest worldwide events for higher education internationalization.
Portugal will participate in the event with a “Study & Research in Portugal” Pavillion, with the support of the Portuguese Ministry for Science, Technology and Higher Education, and the presence of 20 Portuguese institutions: Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, ISG Business & Economics School, Universidade Aberta, Universidade de Aveiro, ISEG Lisbon School of Economics and Management, Instituto Politécnico do Porto, Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, Universidade de Coimbra, Universidade Europeia, Instituto Superior Técnico da Universidade de Lisboa, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Universidade do Porto, Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Coimbra, Escola Superior de Saúde do Alcoitão, NOVA SBE, Universidade do Minho, Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, Universidade Lusíada, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, assisted by DGES – Directorate General for Higher Education, FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology and the Fulbright Commission.
On the 29th of May at 10h00, the Deputy Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. João Sobrinho Teixeira, will be key speaker at the NAFSA Conference session on Welcoming Refugee Higher Education Students: Portugal’s Experience.
The initiative “Study & Research in Portugal” represents a new impetus that Portugal is taking towards internationalization of knowledge, creativity and innovation namely in the context of the higher education and science and technology internationalization policy general guidelines defined in Council of Minister Resolution nº 78/2016, of the 30th of November.
Study&Research in Portugal is a new platform, developed by the Ministry for Science, Technology and Higher Education through the Directorate General for Higher Education and the Foundation for Science and Technology, in association with other partners, aiming at promoting and supporting Portuguese higher education, science and technology’s internationalization throughout the world, gathering information targeted for students, researchers, academics, families, higher education institutions, research centers and enterprises.
